FAQs about Opportunity Checking

For Zelle®, your account is not eligible through digital banking. However, your Members Choice Debit Mastercard® can be linked to a cash app such as Venmo for quick, secure and easy payments to friends and family. Click here for instructions to link your card to Venmo.
You may access your account 24/7 via Online Banking, Mobile Banking and the Audio Response system. You may also speak to a live representative by calling 281.398.9900. Please be advised that when calling outside of regular business hours, live representatives have limited account access.

Money Orders are ideal payment options when you need to pay for something by check but are not able to use a personal check. For some large purchases, merchants may prefer a money order instead of a personal check. Money orders must be pre-paid, which means payment to the merchant is guaranteed. Members Choice offers Money Orders up to the amount of $1,000, and does not offer International Money Orders. Stop by a Members Choice branch near you to get started. The fee for a Money Order can be found on our Fee Schedule (PDF).
Members Choice offers balance inquiries, transfers and check-by-mail withdrawals via Audio Response System. Please call 281.398.9900 or toll free 800.753.2428, and select option 2. Note: your account information is required for the audio response system.

This is the fast and easy way to setup direct deposit right from your online or mobile banking. Plus, you don't need to reach out to your payor or HR department. Sets up in minutes! 


Direct Deposit from your employer

Contact your payor and request to have your payroll check automatically deposited into your Checking/Savings account. Use your member account number to complete the process. Your employer may request this information to set up direct deposit for your regular payroll check:

  • Credit Union Name: Members Choice Credit Union – Houston, TX
  • Type of account: (checking or savings)
  • Routing / ABA number: 313083196
  • Account number: Your checking or savings account number - access by logging in to online banking. Here are the steps to find that number:
    1. Go to mccu.com
    2. Enter your username and password in Account Logins, then click Login
    3. Once you are in online banking, select the Accounts widget
    4. Select the checking or savings account you would like to use
    5. Select Account Details, then locate the full MICR Account Number (13 digits)
Use MyPay if your direct deposit originates from: 
  • Active Duty Military Service Pay
  • Reserve Military Pay
  • Military Retirement Pay
  • Department of Defenses (DoD) Pay
  • Defense Finance and Accounting Services Pay  
Use Standard Form 1199A or Go Direct if your direct deposit originates from the United States Treasury for:
  • Social Security
  • Supplemental Security Income
  • Veterans Affairs Benefits and Insurance Pay
  • Railroad Retirement
  • Civil Service Retirement

Opportunity Checking is not eligible for Choice Pay, mobile deposits, Zelle® or for transfers between financial institutions via Online Banking.
Please note an Opportunity Checking account will be closed if overdrawn for 30 days or more. If you maintain your Opportunity Checking account in good standing for one year, you have the option to be converted to another checking account type and funds will be transferred to that account.
